She wasn't on MTV, BET, American Idol, or Oprah But....

....I still think it's worth a listen. Four score and seven years ago (well not that long), Lizz Wright dropped The Orchard. I am a HUGE fan of Lizz and I can honestly say that this CD is her best. She was introduced with Salt, started her pace with Dreaming Wide Awake, and now she running full speed ahead with The Orchard. This CD has been on heavy rotation since it came out, but I haven't blogged about it. If you're a fan of neo-soul, folk, blues and jazz, you'll love this entire CD. She doesn't do all the vocal acrobatics. She's not popping her ass and gyrating. She doesn't have any guest rappers. She's just raw. The voice speaks for itself. My fave tracks are "My Heart" , "Leave Me Standing Alone" and "I Idolize You". The latter is a fierce remake of Ike and Tina Turner's. She's no Tina, but she's all Lizz. She takes a stab at making it her own and wins. Go get it and get into this not-so-well-known-musical visionary.
See the below for "My Heart".
